Aiming high in Ghana with the Ford Everest
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana, like many ministries in Africa have to work within very tight budgets, but didn't want to forego the benefits of AV DRUM 21 , when wanting to reach smallholder farms. One way round the issue was to opt for a less expensive 4-wheel drive vehicle, whilst keeping the standard specifications for the audio visual equipment.
AgriVisual looked at various options before recommending the Ford Everest as a suitable vehicle to convert into an AV DRUM 21 . Although perhaps lacking the ultimate durability of the Nissan Patrol or the Toyota Landcruiser, the Ford Everest is nonetheless more than up to the task of taking development messages to hard to reach audiences. It is still large enough to carry 5 passengers in comfort, along with a full complement of audio visual equipment, which is all housed in the rear compartment and on the roof. Using a new chassis proved no big problem for the AgriVisual workshop, as our designs are modular and can be readily adapted for most vehicles.
AgriVisual have produced 20 AV DRUM 21 vehicles for the Ministry of Food and Agricuture in Ghana, which will soon be put into action as part of the Extension Service.
